Hosted by Explore Life Coach, Patti Phillips

"These gatherings are for women looking to connect with a community of others who are navigating significant life transitions. Each month, a new topic will be explored and discussed. These circles go beyond presenting new information. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for women to share their challenges and learn from one another, recognizing no one needs to do this growth work alone.

As a certified life coach, it is my belief that conversation and powerful questions are what move information to inspiration to action to transformation. I deeply believe that if more women committed to intentional self-care and inner reflection, we would be able to create more balance between feminine and masculine power, attitudes will change, and ultimately, our intentional transformation will improve not only our lives but the lives of the people we love and care for."

Exploring Authenticity

Hosted by: Explore Life Coach, Patti Phillips

Authenticity is a popular word these days. We hear the term all the time in the field of personal growth andit seems to be everywhere in advertising.

Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres credit much of their success to “being authentic”. Spiritual teachers of our time like Marianne Williamson, Wayne Dyer, and Deepak Chopra appeal to us to “be your true self”. Brené Brown, the social researcher, writes about it extensively in her books Braving the Wild, The Gift of Imperfection and Daring Greatly.

We live in a culture that is craving authenticity. We want the freedom to say, do and be who we really are without worrying so much about how we are perceived by others.

Sadly, even though we may say we want to live in a way that is true to who we are at the deepest level, most of us don't. It's not that easy. Many of us have learned from our parents, teachers, employers, and the media that it's more important to be liked and to fit in than it is to be ourselves.

In this circle, we’ll explore some ideas of what it means to be authentic and how being authentic can help increase our feelings of peace, joy and purpose. A few ideas for how to explore your authentic self will be offered.

Things to note:

The room we use for the session is used by another group prior to us having access. We will wait in the lobby and move in to set up chairs when they are finished. Please don't arrive too early to avoid congestion.

If you like taking notes, bring a journal and pen.

Also bring some cozy slippers or wear your fancy socks as we will leave our shoes at the entrance.

To reserve your spot please click here and register through Meet up.

Women's Health Talk

calendarThursday, March 7, 2019  7-9pm

Cost - $10coin

Screen Shot 2018-03-02 at 9.32.06 AM

Women's health...a topic that doesn't get discussed as much as it should and certainly does not get the attention of researchers the way it should. So we are taking our health into our own hands by offering sessions that focus on health concerns specific to women and how we can live our lives to the fullest.

We will engage local professional on various topics. If you have suggestions or speakers please let me know.

"Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll--Maintaining health at Menopause and Beyond".
Please join Dr. Denise Black MD, as she guides us through "the change." She will talk about sex, lifestyle ways to be healthy to not have to go on drugs, and the importance of physical activity as we get older.
Dr. Black will present for the first hour and then we will have an hour for an open discussion after.

Dr. Black grew up in a small mining town in Northern Manitoba. She did her medical school and residency training in OB/Gyn at the University of Manitoba.

She has worked much of her career with marginalized women in the inner city, and has worked with the Manitoba HIV team as their Ob/Gyn consultant. She has also served as director of the post-graduate residency training program in Ob/Gyn, and has been an examiner with the Royal College.

These twilight days in her career are spent practicing part -time and educating and advocating full-time. She will share not only from a evidence based scientific background but also from  personal  and practical experience.

Dr. Black believes in empowering women with the knowledge to enable them to live their best life.

Nothing is off limits
Topics of discovery may include but are not limited to:
1. Hot flashes, what are they, how can I control them better?
2. Sex isn't fun anymore! What's going on and what can I do?
3. What's up with the weight gain? Is it menopause? or just me?
4. Why am I turning into my father? What's with the facial hair?
5. Am I losing my mind? Between my moods and my forgetfulness I think I'm going crazy!
Location: St. John's Ravenscourt School, Robin Wolinsky Hall. 400 South Dr.
Parking in front of school or at Dutton Arena. Enter in the Main Entrance and we will be there to great you and direct you.

There are so many messages out there. Eat this, don't eat that. Do this, don't do that. This will cure this, that will kill you. It can be extremely confusing.

This evening is meant to introduce you to the various things that you say, do, eat and think that contribute to a healthy lifestyle. It truly is a unique puzzle you need to create for yourself.

The night will be hosted by certified health coach Carol Ploen-Hosegood. Carol will walk you through your own personal wellness wheel and discuss the different pieces of a healthy lifestyle puzzle so you can leave with some new tools. She will also introduce you to the Shred 10 program and you will have an opportunity to taste some great healthy recipes.

In a world where illness is on the rise along with health care costs, it's time we take control of our own health through education and prevention. It's more enjoyable and a lot cheaper than illness.

You will go home with resources to assist you on your healthy living journey.

HMC is thrilled to announce our Costa Rica adventure 2019 ~ experiencing the Blue Zone

This Costa Rica trip we would like to invite you to join us to learn and enjoy what a blue zone offers. We will incorporate and discuss the 9 habits of blue zone communities that will raise your quality of life and happiness.

A “blue zone” is a region where people commonly live past the age of 100 years. The Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica has been named one of the five classified blue zones of the world, where residents live even longer than those in the rest of the country. Scientists and demographers have classified these longevity hot-spots as having common health traits and lifestyles that result in higher than normal longevity. In “Blue Zone Nicoya Peninsula”, residents live longer than those in other areas of Costa Rica.

While you are in Costa Rica, we will visit Nicoya, the actual geographical core of the Blue Zone. We will meet some of the local people and find our first hand how they live their lives in health and happiness. We will use this knowledge through out our 12 days to enhance our trip and create some positive habits to bring home with us.

Foreign visitors frequently describe Costa Ricans as hospitable and gracious people, known to go out of their way to be courteous and avoid offending others. This can be interpreted to be a result from living the Pura Vida lifestyle. A phrase used in the everyday life that means “The Good Life."

This 12 day adventure will introduce you to the culture, the beautiful natural beauty, cuisine and happiness of Costa Rica.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate the five pillars of HMC, than in a country that truly lives it every day.

Highlights

  • Be in Costa Rica (when it's cold at home) and have the unique opportunity to experience the culture and language of Costa Rica.
  • Experience mud baths and hot pools of the Rincon de la Vieja area.
  • Visit the geographical core of the Blue Zone in Nicoya
  • Do morning yoga and walks on the beach, swim in the ocean daily and kayak.

Details
