When we were young, we were always reminded by our parents and our teachers to write a thank you note and to acknowledge people in our life who did nice things for us. It is not only the right thing to do but it was about creating positive habits.  However, it this modern age of technology, busy lives and focus on doing more, sometimes we just forget. So I’m here today to remind you and share a story of how much a simple gesture of gratitude can make someones day.

When was the last time you told someone thank you for making a positive impact on your life?

I good friend of mine who is going through a really tough time right now received a random out of the blue message this past week from a former student that truly made a positive difference for her. Here’s what it said:

“This is going to be really random, but the other night I was creeping Facebook and happened to see an old picture of you up on stage (presumably karaoke) and just thought to myself, “she is awesome.”

Anyway, I thought it and figured I’d let you know that I thought it! You’ve got a pretty unique charisma and I’m sure a lot of people envy that. I also think you’ve made high school a lot more enjoyable for a lot of people. I’m sure you hear that often, but probably not often enough.  Just wanted to pass that along. Best wishes. ”

She told me she wrote him back and told him he had no idea how much she needed that pick-me-up…especially today!

Simple gestures that take minutes can change someones day, week, month or even year.

What are you waiting for? Take 5 minutes to thank someone who made a  positive difference in your life.

You’ll feel good and you could make their entire year!

Simple as that!
