Why meditate? Over the past 10 years or so, meditation has grown in popularity. Why is this? One reason could be that the claims that mystics and healers have been making for centuries are now being proven through Western science. Meditation has been proven to regulate blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, alleviate depression, anxiety, chronic pain and support our happiness.
Another reason why meditation is becoming more common in the West could be that it has been made more accessible. That is, we have learnt that we don't have to sit on the floor for an hour a day with a blank mind in order to reap all the benefits that meditation offers.
A simple guided breath awareness meditation, if done regularly, is enough to transform not only your health, but your entire life! Over time, you will see improvements in your relationships, job satisfaction and overall well-being. Just five minutes a day can do all this!
I like to ask people: If you could get all this from a pill, with no side effects besides peace and happiness, would you take it?
